Martin CHAIX

Guest Professor
International Choreographer (Ballet du Rhin, Leipzig Ballet…)

Born in Albi in 1980, Martin Chaix began dancing at Line Jenny Neel school in his native region. In 1993, he was admitted to the Dance School of the Opéra national de Paris where he trained until 1999 and joined the Ballet de l’Opéra de Paris directly.

In 2006, the Leipzig Ballet in Germany offered him a place as a solo dancer. In 2009, he flew to Düsseldorf where he joined the Ballet am Rhein as solo dancer, until 2015.
During all these years, her career leads her to dance in different ballets and to explore various techniques and styles ranging from classic to modern. He has the honor to dance in covers and creations of choreographers as prestigious as Roland Petit, Angelin Preljocaj, Carolyn Carlson, Rudolf Nureyev, John Neumeier, George Balanchine, Pina Bausch, Jean-Claude Galotta, Marco Goecke…

From 2015, he decides to devote himself fully to the freelance choreography which fascinates him. For him, “dance is a writing, it allows to communicate, to talk about Man and humanity; there’s the music, the sets, it’s complicated, but creation is like organizing chaos.”

He choreographed his first piece in 2006 at the Paris Opera Ballet. Subsequently, he created many other pieces as part of programs for young choreographers. In 2014, at the invitation of the “Brotfabrik” in Bonn, he succeeded in the challenge of creating an integral ballet, named Eine Winterreise. Very quickly, he received official orders and collaborated with prestigious companies: the Leipzig Ballet, the Ballet am Rhein, the Nordhausen Theater, the Ballet of the National Theater in Saarland, the National Ballet of Croatia, the Ballet of the National Opera of the Rhin…
