A graduate of the CNSMD in Lyon, Carine first worked as a choreographer for several years with various contemporary dance companies (La Camionetta, Les Carnets Bagouet, Cie Michèle Rust…). Winner of the Lavoisier scholarship in 2000, she spent a year in New York at Trisha Brown’s studios, perfecting her Release style. There, she developed a somatic and organic approach to movement, working alongside such dance masters as Steve Paxton, Simone Forti and K.J. Holmes. This perception of the body in movement was to prove decisive for her, and would later guide her teaching.
In 1999, she obtained her State Diploma in Contemporary Dance. She taught for three years at the University of Chichester in England. On the strength of this experience, she returned to France and joined the Conservatoire de Nîmes. She taught there for 14 years as a full professor, and was also responsible for coordinating the dance department. In 2017, she obtained her Certificat d’Aptitude in contemporary dance.
