Giulia Tonelli trained at the Balletto di Toscana in Pisa and at the Wiener Staatsoper Ballettschule, where she soon began her professional career. At Ballet Vlaanderen, she performed solo roles in major ballets such as Giselle and La Bayadère, as well as works by major choreographers such as William Forsythe, Jiří Kylián and Crystal Pite. In 2010, she joined Ballett Zürich as a soloist, and over time established herself as one of the company’s leading ballerinas.
Awarded several times as best Italian dancer and artistic figure internationally, Giulia Tonelli was also featured in the Zurich Film Festival award-winning documentary Becoming Giulia. Today, she is a freelance artist and guest teacher, while pursuing a Master’s degree in Dance Science and developing her coaching work.
