After studying modern, classical and jazz dance, Luanda turned to Afro-Brazilian dance. She studied the movements and symbolism of Afro-Brazilian deities with Maître King, then joined the Ballet Folklorique de Bahia. She also danced for other contemporary companies in Brazil and Argentina, where she began teaching. In 2001, she created the Silvestre Link project, a network of professional and amateur dancers developing the language of choreographer and teacher Rosangela Silvestre. She has been teaching at Dance Area since 2005.
