A gold medalist from the National Ballet School in Havana in 2000, Yvette joined the Cuban National Ballet Company, directed by Alicia Alonso, in 1987 and danced the great classics of the repertoire. Promoted to principal dancer in 1996, she took part in numerous tours around the world. Throughout her career, she continued to work with the National Ballet School of Cuba as a teacher of ballet, repertoire, and character dance, as well as a choreographer. In 2001, she joined the Sinopia Ensemble, directed by Étienne Frey, in Geneva.
From 2024 to 2026, at the invitation of Carlos Acosta, she joined the Birmingham Royal Ballet as a ballet mistress and rehearsal director.
