Ibrahim ÖNAL

Ibrahim Önal is the lead Tutor of the Trainee Programme at English National Ballet School. He graduated in 2001with a Diploma Degree for Dance Pedagogy of John Cranko School in Stuttgart and is a Certified Dance Pedagogue of Berlin Certified School for Dance Pedagogy after Vaganova System.

His professional dancer career began in year 1994 at the State Ballet Istanbul with dancing already leading roles at the age of 19.
The next engagement by Reid Anderson brought him to the world renowned Stuttgart Ballet in year 1996 where he has danced many leading roles of the classical and modern repertoire until 2004.

In year 2004,Vladimir Malakhov engaged him to the State Ballet Berlin where he danced most of the major roles of classical repertoire until his retirement in 2014.

He has been partnering world famous ballerinas like Uliana Lopatkina etc. In his 20 years of dancing career with Berlin State Ballet and the Stuttgart Ballet he has worked with the most important choreographers of our time.

He has been performing in several tours and gala performances in the U.S.A, Asia and Europe.

Mr Önal was appointed by the Jerome Robbins Trust to take the role of the « Dancer » from Brian de Palma’s film “Passion” with Polina Semionova to dance the Pas de Deux of Afternoon of a Faun of Jerome Robbins in year 2012.

He has taught as invited guest teacher for major Ballet Companies such as Stuttgart Ballet, Zurich Ballet, German Opera Berlin,Edward Clug’s National Ballet of Slovenia in Maribor, National Ballet of Croatia in Split etc.
He has been attending to several ballet festivals and schools as a classical ballet teacher around the world.
