Professor, choreographer, and performer Florian Rouiller holds a Master of Dance degree from the University of Maryland. He has choreographed and performed original productions while performing with local dance companies. He began his dance career with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the prestigious John Cranko School in Stuttgart and danced with the Stuttgart Ballet in productions such as The Sleeping Beauty and Giselle. After immigrating to the United States, he danced with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company as an apprentice. He has performed with the Ohio Ballet, the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago, the Milwaukee Ballet, Ballet Chicago, and the Eldar Aliev International Ballet performing soloist roles. Internationally, he has danced with the Ballet Metropolitano and Ballet Contemporanea de Caracas, as well as the Gothenburg Ballet in Sweden. Florian has won choreographic awards at the YAGP and the Korean National Competition. He is a professor at the Washington Ballet School and a guest professor at the Kirov Academy in Washington for their summer program. He will join Dance Area in September 2025 to teach at the Area Jeune Ballet.
