Born in Cuba, Juan joins the Academy of Art and Dance in Camaguey at 10. He is recognized by the jury of Cuban teachers and receives a gold and silver medal. He graduates from La Escuela Profesional de Arte with the highest grades, obtains a diploma as an International dancer, and teacher, and studies the methodology and pedagogy of Ballet. At 17 he is selected by the Artistic Director of the National Ballet School of Cuba to join the Teatro Nuovo di Torino as soloist, where he works with great artists such as Carlos Acosta, Ariel Serrano and Antonio Aguila and with choreographers Robert North, Luciana Savignano, and many others. In 1992 he joins the Ballet de Camaguey as soloist, under the direction of Fernando and Alicia Alonso. In 1994, he joins Bejart Ballet Lausanne and performs on great stages including Bolshoi Theater, Mariinsky Theater, Teatro alla Scala and also performs with Mikhail Baryshnikov, Maya Plissestskaya, Slyvie Guillem or Aurelie Dupont. In 1996, he joins Victor Ullate Ballet as a soloist and is recognized by choreographer Gillian Lynne to play Mr. Mistoffelees in Cats. In 2007 he is asked to return to the Bejart Ballet. Currently Juan shares his knowledge and experience worldwide. Teaches at Dance Area since 2017.
